The final and biggest update for The Witch in the Forest is now available for download!
It adds the following:
It's a new year, time for new updates! This time, I'm detailing what the soon to be released update will include.
Now, time for some new screenshots!
On the top is a look at the NVL mode, the mode the VN was in originally, and on the bottom is a look at the ADV mode, the new addition. You can also see one of Fidelia's new sprites, as well as one of the edited backgrounds.
The update will be out soon, before the end of January!
Yes, future updates to The Witch in the Forest are coming! I have a major update planned in the near future after/around when That Which Binds Us is complete, including.... well, I won't spoil what I have in store! Instead, I share a bit of what I can show off- edited backgrounds. As a reminder, here is what the original (current) backgrounds look like, with this being the first background in-game shown in an early WIP:
And, here's what the newly edited backgrounds look like:
All of the backgrounds in the game have gotten an overhaul and have been edited- is that not cool? Not really? Well, don't worry, I have a lot more interesting updates planned soon.
The new backgrounds are not currently available, and will be released with a new content update in very early 2018.
The official art book is now available for $1! It includes concept art, work in progress art, details on the making of the VN, and how I adapted it from a webcomic to a VN!
It's funny how much a project can change due to time- there's so many factors that go into game dev, from money, to art, to the mindsets of the people working on them. The Witch in the Forest first started out as a webcomic way back in 2014, but here I am in late 2017 finally finishing the story. As such, I still have some older art for the characters- this week, I'll share the progression via chibis!
Chibi on the left is from 2014, and chibi on the right is from 2017. I made the chibi on the left for a business card for my first (and so far, only) Artist Alley booth at a convention in my town, while the chibi on the right was just some fun promo art. They are two different coloring styles, but you can see a lot of improvements and changes in the overall style.
The Witch in the Forest is finally released for free on Itch.io! It's about 1 hour long and is kinetic, meaning there's no choices in it. I hope you guys like it!
